School Hours:

8:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Absence:

If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason please call the school in the morning to report it. If we do not receive a call from you the attendance clerk will try to call a parent/guardian at home or the workplace. If no contact is made your child may be considered truant.

Dismissals:

If you know ahead of time that your child is to be dismissed from school, please send in a note with your child indicating the time and general reason.

Tardiness:

If your child is going to be late to school, a parental note is required explaining the tardiness. It is also expected that you indicate the time you expect your child to arrive at school. If a student enters school between 8:15 - 9:30 a.m. without a note he/she will be admitted to school and a note must be sent to school the next day. Students whose tardiness is unexcused may be kept after school. Students who are repeatedly tardy to school may have a suspension hearing with their parent/guardian.

Homework assignments differ, depending upon the student's ability, potential, and need. You are expected to complete assignments carefully in order to reinforce and enrich classroom learning experiences. What you and your parents can expect:

Homework is assigned on a regular basis.

Homework is usually discussed in class, collected, and graded within a reasonable time for each student, normally within a week.

A record is kept of homework grades and assignments completed.

Students have reasonable notice of long-term assignments. Time must be planned for these assignments.

Meeting with your child's teacher :

Parents wishing for a conference with their child's teaching teams should call the Guidance Office and make an appointment to meet during the team's preparation period.

Students with the last name (A - L): Mrs. Cronin

Students with the last name (M - Z): Mr. Boss

Cell phones, MP3 players, and electronic devices:

Students are not permitted to use electronic devices such as MP3 (such as iPod), cell phones, radios, tablets (such as iPads), beepers, gaming systems, or other electronic devices during school hours. They will be confiscated and will be returned to parents/guardians only.

School Cancellation:

If regularly scheduled classes are canceled or delayed for any reason, announcements will be made over AM radio stations WBZ (1030), WRKO (680), and Boston television channels 4, 5, and 7. Due to unforeseen emergencies (usually weather), it may be necessary to close school early to ensure the safety of our students. Parents and students should discuss what to do when/if this situation occurs. This is especially important when parents are away from home during the school day. It is not possible for the schools to notify parents in advance of such an emergency.

To learn more about cancellations and sign up for automatic notifications, please select QPS Info from the main menu, and then click on School Cancellation.

Dress Code:

Each student's hairstyle, appearance, and manner of dress are determined by the student and his/her parent or guardian, unless these present a danger to the student's health or safety, interfere with school work, or create a classroom or school disruption. Students may be sent home to change clothes. No hats, coats, or sunglasses may be worn in the building.
